Riverhead Charter School is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment in accordance with the New York State Dignity for All Students Act (DASA). The school promotes a culture of dignity, respect, and inclusion for all students.

Policy Statement

Riverhead Charter School is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment in accordance with the New York State Dignity for All Students Act (DASA). The school promotes a culture of dignity, respect, and inclusion for all students.

This policy applies to all students, school personnel, school property, and school-sponsored events.

The Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) protects students from harassment and discrimination on school property or at school-sponsored events.

No student shall be subjected to discrimination based on actual or perceived:

  • Race
  • Color
  • National origin
  • Ethnic group
  • Religion or religious practice
  • Disability
  • Weight or physical characteristics
  • Sexual orientation
  • Gender identity or expression
  • Sex

The school strictly prohibits all forms of harassment and discrimination. All reports are taken seriously and will be addressed promptly in accordance with New York State Education Law and school policies.

Students, parents, or guardians who wish to report a DASA-related concern should:

  • Report to a teacher or staff member
  • Contact a school administrator or counselor
  • Contact the DASA Coordinators (DAC) listed below

Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy

Riverhead Charter School strictly prohibits all forms of discrimination and harassment on school property or at school-sponsored activities. All reports of discrimination or harassment will be taken seriously and addressed promptly in accordance with New York State Education Law and school policies to ensure a safe and respectful learning environment for all students.

 

Reporting a DASA Concern

If your child is experiencing a DASA-related concern, please follow the steps below:

Concerns should first be reported to a teacher, counselor, or school staff member. If further assistance is needed, please contact the designated Dignity for All Students Act (DAC) Coordinators listed below.
