Dear RCS Families and Staff,
Welcome back! I hope each of you had a truly restful and rejuvenating summer break. As a transformative educator committed to empowering students, I am excited and grateful to commence this journey with every member of our Riverhead Charter School community.
This year, let us return to the fundamentals, akin to the principles we impart to our elementary school students. My guiding principle is always “Students First,” and our core values for the year will be: Growth, Solutions, and Community.
1. OUR FOCUS: A GROWTH MINDSET
As a teaching school, we are inherently challenged. We approach every situation with a growth mindset and a solution-oriented perspective. Rather than dwelling on problems, let us collaboratively identify creative and practical solutions. This unwavering commitment to continuous improvement is what distinguishes our school and ensures that our students receive the utmost quality education. I am prepared to make difficult decisions that will positively impact students’ lives.
2. OUR STRENGTH: BUILDING BRIDGES
Our school thrives on the diversity of our community. We honor and respect our families and are dedicated to fostering connections, not creating divisions. My colleagues and I are cognizant of the perspectives of all stakeholders. Our collective strength comes from our capacity to listen, understand, and support one another, regardless of our backgrounds. When we communicate with respect and intention, we collectively achieve success. I consider parents integral partners in providing rigorous, meaningful education to our students.
We have an exceptional year ahead, replete with learning, growth, and collective accomplishment for our students and community.
Welcome back, and let us embark on a remarkable year at RCS!
Sincerely,
Dr. Raymond Ankrum, Superintendent
